5 Tips on Kids and Sun Safety

Although summer camp may be cancelled (because of COVID-19) Summer is not. As we approach warmer days, our kiddies will want to spend more time outdoors. Whether they are in the backyard or pool, sunscreen should always be worn and sun protection should be practiced.

We know sun exposure is important for our children’s bodies to make vitamin D which helps absorb calcium and create stronger bones. But too much sun exposure, especially if not practiced safely, can cause damage to the skin, eyes, and, immune system.

Practicing sun safety is very important for our kids. Here are 5 helpful tips.

1.USE SUNSCREEN:

Sun protection must be used outdoors on a sunny or cloudy day. According to the American Academy of Dermatology, children should wear sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher. Sunscreen can be mineral or chemical and should be reapplied often throughout the day.

2.AVOID THE STRONGEST SUN RAYS

3.DON’T FORGET THE SMALL AREAS
