Hamptons Sun’s Favorite Fall Festivities

Published by Brenda Hidalgo on 31st Jul 2020

Summer days may be behind us, but this does not signal the end of all outdoor activities. Fall is the perfect time to get out and enjoy a cool breeze. While it might seem like the season for SPF and sunnies is officially over, it’s important to remember that your skin needs SPF love all year round. Even in colder weather, UV rays can cause serious skin damage, which is why this week at Hampton Sun, we’re sharing some of our favorite fall activities and how to keep up a healthy sun care routine while enjoying them!

Pumpkin Picking

Fall has arrived, along with everything pumpkin flavored. Get into the spooky spirit and visit a nearby patch. Pumpkins add a great fall accent to any home, and they’re a tasty ingredient in many seasonal recipes. Children will especially love the idea of picking out their own souvenir to take home and decorate. Chances are you’ll be heading to the nearest pumpkin patch on a lovely fall afternoon, which is why you’ll want to pack some sunscreen for the road. We like to be especially cautious of our little ones and their sensitive skin. We recommend packing our kids SPF 70 sunscreen, which comes in a powerful hypoallergenic and oil-free formula suitable for even the most sensitive skin. This sunscreen was made with days like this in mind.

Rock climbing or Hiking

Autumn is the perfect time to get outside and exercise with fun physical activities. It’s not too hot, or cold, to get in a good workout this season. Rock climbing and hiking are great ways to alleviate stress while strengthening your core and lowering your risk of high blood pressure. Make sure you double up on sun protection with sun protective clothing and some SPF. UV rays are most powerful during the earlier hours in the afternoon. Our SPF 15 Continuous Mist offers broad spectrum protection which shields from UVB and UVA rays.

Visiting a Vineyard

Calling all wine lovers! Fall is a great time to visit a winery and vineyard. Most vineyards harvest their grapes this time of the year and host special events in addition to their wine tasting and tours. This activity is the perfect little getaway for lovers, but if you’re thinking of skipping your sun care routine because you might be spending some of your time indoors, it’s important to remember that UVA rays can still penetrate through clouds and glass. These same rays are a major cause of premature aging, so don’t forget to pack on some sunscreen!

Taking a walk in the park

Few things are better than taking a nice, long walk in the park when the leaves are changing colors and the weather is just right. Grab your cup of joe, a good book, and a cozy cardigan for a day out. Let’s face it, as the days get colder, your skin changes. Your lips are especially sensitive to changes in weather, and they need SPF, too. Our SPF 30 Lip Gelée offers UV protection in a light, moisturizing formula. This gem is enriched with natural extracts to replenish your lips, keeping them kissably soft.
